I'm back ......

Hi there, I know I've been gone for a while! sorry, I've been so busy with my little boys playing baseball I've been really busy. This week is the last week of school so things should get better. First I wanna show you a pic of my kokeshi doll I embroidered (last post) I love the way it turned out I think I'm going to use it as a quilt square for one of my nieces who knows??? I started a new one called SeƱorita, I found this one here, I love it so I'm giving it a try. Embroidery is so relaxing. I remember doing this when I was a child, but had forgot this beautiful art form and with so many nice patterns out there these days it bought the fun back in it.

Oh I olmost forgot to mention these cool vintage looking bubbles I bought for my "youngins" they do work just like they say! big shiny bubbles

when I'm not our blowing bubbles we're inside playing with paint!! they love to get messy
these are my old business cards from work with our old address, instead of throwing them out the kids & I painted them and we'll make tags out of them or use them on cards....oh speaking of cards check out my moms card I made below .

Here's the front side:

do you like it? my sisters too sweet she always tells me "Hallmark ain't got nothing on you!" she thinks I should be selling these... I thinks she's nuts but i still love her very much.

I better get going now I here my little ones calling me that want to be tucked in!!!, I promise I'll be back soon, hopefully this week, but you know in between end of the year field trips, my little nephews graduation (pre-school) ooohhh I just want to squeeze him he's so cute!
and pizza party to celebrate end of season baseball...and on and on... yikes! I have a busy week but I'm dying to show you what I got this weekend at 3 killer garage sales all for $6.50. my husband said I scored!, I'd say he's right.
be back soon....

Calling all thrifting friends

Hello Ladies: I need your help please I recently acquired this beauty Singer model 348 after hunting one down for a little over a year and now that it's here there is so much more it has to offer than just sitting here at home looking pretty!
I need an owners manual for it, after spending a few hours googling and surfing e-bay for one I got a headache. If anyone has information or an extra manual laying around (wishful thinkin) please let me know, this gal is willing to pay for it, or we can trade a child...just kidding. Seriously I can't wait to start sewing! I was able to wind up a spool easily, the motor seems strong but when I thread it and attempt to sew it bunches up and fabric gets eaten from the drop in bobbin area! ugghhhh!! so frustrating . Maybe I'm not threading it right so I must have patience.

Please excuse that top pic of my kitchen table I swear you could usually eat off of it, just not this day! hahaha
oh yeah here's my sewing basket semi-filled

and this little beauty was a freebie pattern from this lovely gal http://www.flickr.com/photos/jennyhart/3489526885/

it was so much fun stitching. It's actually completed but I'll have to show you tomorrow or the next day, my little sis surprised me today all the way from Miami - very nice surprise. We have a fun filled weekend planned that includes sewing & thrifting!
May you have a wonderful weekend whatever you do, until next time

Happy Mother's Day

Hope you all have a Wonderful Mother's day tomorrow. One filled with whatever your little heart desires!. I will be visiting with my mom...as for the rest of the day - I will probably be sewing!
it's something I don't get to do as much as I'd like.
Until we meet again, have a swell day ladies.
Sincerely ~Swankygal

I'm Back

Hello, sorry I've been missing, but I've been busy, so I have to show you everything I got this weekend!, My oldest son Andrew had Prom so we had to drive him 3 1/2 hours away, so of course this means mom & dad get a little bit of thrift shopping! so here's what I got....
It's a sewing basket..... yay! I loved it as soon as I seen it, & of course it was the last antique store we hit before heading home( hubby's favorite store!) thanks baby!
it was a bit dirty, but in great condition- it's missing the cord or string that goes through the holes on the lid through the bottom of the basket
yup those are transfers or decals on there and this in the inside is a little red tomato pincushion, how darling! this lovely birdie tray at only .65 cents who could resist
and a bunch of vintage patterns for children.25 cents each!!!! yay
oh yeah and the trip would not be complete without me stopping by my favorite fabric store that i sew dearly miss.... picked up a few yards of this lovely print so that I can make a table cloth for my tiny 50's kitchen table, more pics to come later, Thank you for coming along , until we meet again,
